External Feed Reading

Saturday, April 20th, 2013

We have had some questions recently about how best to synchronise GigaTools to an external Gigs feed from one of the applications we connect to.

GigaTools reads your external Gigs feeds twice (2 times) per day so if you’ve recently added Gigs via your external software, it can take up to 12 hours for these to show up in your GigaTools listings.

In order for a Gig to be successfully imported into GigaTools, that Gig needs to have data for Venue, City & Country. If any one of those 3 required pieces of data are not present, that Gig will not be imported.

If you wish to change any of the information in a Gig, do so via your external software. Any changes you make to a Gig via the external software will be read by GigaTools the next time it reads the feeds.

If you change the information in a Gig on GigaTools this information may be overwritten by the information in your external Gigs feed when it is next read.

If you wish to delete or cancel a Gig after it has been imported into GigaTools, you should do this via the GigaTools admin site.

What happens when i upgrade?

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013

Are you an existing GigaTools customer and you want to upgrade your Account? Here is how it works.

When you upgrade or crossgrade from an existing GigaTools Account to a different Account, we charge you for the new Account and credit you with the unused time remaining from your previous Account. So for example if you have a Single Account that expires in 6 months and you want to upgrade to a Twin Account, GigaTools will charge you for a new Twin Account (£3 / Month – £36 / Year) and then credit you for the unused 6 months of your old Single Account at the value of the Twin Account.

So we take the 6 months at the Single price  (6 x £2 = £12) then credit that to the new Twin Account (£12 / £3 = 4 Months) So the new Twin Account will have an expiry date of 1 Year and 4 Months.

If you have any questions regarding this just contact us.

Facebook Policy Changes

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

As of November 2012, Facebook have changed the way apps like GigaTools can act on your behalf to make posts on your Facebook pages and profile.

Previously you could give permission to apps like GigaTools to act on your behalf indefinitely and if you wanted to disable this ability you could simply disconnect your GigaTools profile from your Facebook profile.

Facebook have now changed these rules which unfortunately means you will now have to reconnect GigaTools to Facebook every 60 days in order for GigaTools to be able to announce your Gigs and create events on your behalf.

This change to the Facebook rules will effect every app that you grant permission to, to act on your behalf when you’re not logged in to Facebook.

We realise that this change by Facebook is a major inconvenience to everyone and we have taken steps to make this as painless as possible for all GigaTools users.
