Add a Soundcloud Set to each of your Gigs!

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013

Would you like to promote your Gig more by including a Soundcloud Set on your Gig listing page? Now you can!

Simply paste a Soundcloud Embed Code into your Gig when adding it to GigaTools and it will show up on your Gigs listing page.

Be sure to use a Soundcloud Set, not a Track.

Grab the Embed Code for your Soundcloud set via the Soundcloud site, shown below

Location aware Gig announcements

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

We’ve had a lot of requests from GigaTools users who tour the globe for their automated Gig announcements to happen at the hour of their choice in the actual city of the Gig so we have done exactly that.

You can now choose ‘Location Aware Announcements’ in your GigaTools preferences and your Gigs will be announced on time, relative to the time zone of the Gig itself.

This means that, for example, If an artist has specified their announcements to happen at 20:00 hours and they’re performing in Melbourne, Australia, then the announcement will happen at 20:00 in Melbourne. Likewise if their next Gig is in Berlin, Germany, the announcement will go out at 20:00 Berlin time.

Users no longer have to manually adjust their time zone if they’re on a world tour, GigaTools will do the hard work for you 🙂

We will shortly publish full documentation on the API, if you’re in a hurry to get started, get in touch via email.

Facebook Policy Changes

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

As of November 2012, Facebook have changed the way apps like GigaTools can act on your behalf to make posts on your Facebook pages and profile.

Previously you could give permission to apps like GigaTools to act on your behalf indefinitely and if you wanted to disable this ability you could simply disconnect your GigaTools profile from your Facebook profile.

Facebook have now changed these rules which unfortunately means you will now have to reconnect GigaTools to Facebook every 60 days in order for GigaTools to be able to announce your Gigs and create events on your behalf.

This change to the Facebook rules will effect every app that you grant permission to, to act on your behalf when you’re not logged in to Facebook.

We realise that this change by Facebook is a major inconvenience to everyone and we have taken steps to make this as painless as possible for all GigaTools users.

Handy new feature for developers

Saturday, June 2nd, 2012

We’ve just added in a handy new feature for developers who are building their own custom widgets and GigaTools Gigs listings.

Previously if you wanted all the Gigs for a given artist, that is both upcoming and past Gigs, you needed to read 2 different XML feeds. We’ve just simplified this by creating one single feed for all the Gigs, future and past, by adding in a simple URL parameter: ‘showall=true’

example:

Get all upcoming Gigs as XML :
http://gigs.gigatools.com/user/chrisliebing.xml

Get all Gigs, future and past as XML :
http://gigs.gigatools.com/user/chrisliebing.xml?showall=true

Enjoy!
